About Us

Beginnings

Ten years ago I didn't even know what the term genealogy meant. Today I would define it as a highly addictive hobby (or career) that can be mysterious, fulfilling and frustrating all at the same time.

My intro started when my child had to create a family tree for a school project. I gathered as much information as I could from relatives and the various genealogy internet sites. Like most of you, I hit various roadblocks, with either conflicting data or none at all.

I needed source documents and access to these presented an even greater problem. It was not feasible to go to every court house or area library to do research.

Objective

My goal here is to provide this information to hopefully save you some time and money. It will take years to get all books online but well worth it if we are to preserve our heritage. We are indebted to the many genealogists and researchers who have spent countless hours transcribing records and writing family histories. Local history books also provide a good deal of information and can help us piece dates and events together.

Focus
My main focus is on the Southern States. Books are available on CD through my eBay store, Han-Ack Publishing, and most are also put up for auction weekly.
  ▪ Alabama ▪ Louisiana ▪ Oklahoma
  ▪ Arkansas ▪ Mississippi ▪ South Carolina
  ▪ Georgia ▪ Missouri ▪ Tennessee
  ▪ Kentucky ▪ North Carolina ▪ Texas
About the CDs

I chose to publish the books using Adobe's Acrobat Viewer because this is free and widely available. Most computers come with this preinstalled. You can also download it and updates from Adobe's website. You will need version 5.0 or later. I include a link to their site on each CD.

I do not transcribe the books word for wordeach page is an actual scan of the book. Please do not purchase the books for the pictures alone. Although some have crystal clear pictures, most are dark or completely black. This is due to the condition of the original book, printing ink used at that time, and the limitations of microfiche and scanners used to convert books.

In order to make the books searchable, the text must be clearly readable by OCR software (the software that actually "reads" the words). Making a book searchable increases it size considerably so I usually divide them up into smaller files, i.e., volumes, sections, chapters.

Troubleshooting

Email me if you have problems loading the CDs on your computer or receive error messages. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response.
